Essential functions of a teacher
Understand,
implement, and support the Cesar Chavez School Network model for
students who are identified as having special needs.

Differentiate
instruction to accommodate the needs of the student populations
represented in each classroom, including ESL, special education, and
gifted.
-
Establish, nurture and manage
student-directed classrooms in which students are working together,
conversing, using materials and participating in exploration
centers.

Use technology tools for
instruction, planning and communication.
-
Invest time and thought in writing
individual quarterly learning contracts for each student, with
focused comments on important aspects of the student’s progress
and clearly identified goals for further progress; administer and
evaluate performance assessments in all disciplines.

Maintain a classroom that is safe,
nurturing, and productive, where the teacher models the behavior
expected of students, and where the Cesar Chavez School Network
values are the focus of instruction and discussion wherever
appropriate.

Develop family-school
relationships that foster the academic and social development of the
child and keep records of these interactions.

Encourage parents to participate
in the daily life of the school and reach out to families in their
homes through home visits, telephone contacts, and networked home
computers to create a sense of community and belonging for the
students in their school.

Establish connections and
relationships among students and the larger local community.
-
Be willing to commit to a
rigorous and demanding work environment - including additional work
above and beyond the normal job description.
Examples
of Work:
Meets with
students and parents on an individual and small group basis to
complete essential functions of the position. This may require late
afternoon, evening or Saturday meetings on a flextime basis.

Conducts
ongoing discussions with the Academy Director and members of the
Leadership Team.

Develops procedures for
streamlining the delivery of guidance and counseling services for
maximum efficiency of personnel.

Oversees all state and national
testing.

Works with Administration to
complete the school scheduling process.
Minimum
Qualifications:
-
Education
: B.A./ B.S. required and eligible for Colorado
certification/licensure.

Preferred Qualifications :
Masters in the Education Field, Familiar with SFA and Core Knowledge
Curriculum, Leadership skills, 2 years or more teaching experience,
CSAP prep strategies.

Knowledge, Ability & Skills: Demonstrated excellence in oral and written skills,
personal organization skills, knowledge of appropriate teaching
techniques, ability to conduct appropriate assessments, knowledge of
Federal and State regulations pertaining to program requirements and
Special Education regulations. Computer skills required including
word processing, database, and spreadsheet. Commitment to high
achievement, strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills.
